Christian Morgan Bale was born on January 30th, 1974, in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.His father, David Bale, came to England from Southern Africa and worked as a pilot of commercial airlines. His mother, Jennifer was the circus actress.

The family used to move a lot. According to Christian himself, for the 15 years they had changed 15 different cities all over England. For some time family lived in Portugal.

Subsequently parents have divorced: mother has remained to live in England, and father - the active participant of various movements in protection of animals, women and starving people - has got over to Los Angeles and completely devoted himself to public activities. In September, 2000 he got married to well-known American feminist Gloria Steinem. December 30, 2003, after long illness, David Bale died at one of the hospitals in Santa Monica.

Both Christianís grandfathers concerned cinema. His granduncle Rex Bale was professional movie actor and was credited in more than 20 films. Three Christianís elder sisters also have found themselves in various creative trades: Erin became the computer expert, Sharon is a singer in London alternative rock band Redd, and Louise is a theatrical actress and the Mark Taper Forum theater's director in Los Angeles.

First time Christian has appeared on the screen in 8 years - on the British TV, in advertisings of Lenor and grain bread.

In 10 years Christian debuted on professional West End in a play The Nerd where he played together with British comedian Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean).

Christianís movie debut is Soviet-Norwegian-Swedish fairy tale ĎMio moy Mioí (also knows as Land of Faraway) directed by Vladimir Grammatikov. For this film Christian studied in elements of horse riding for 10 days.

When Christian was 13 he has played a leading role in Stephen Spielberg's drama ĎEmpire of the Suní (1987). He was chosen from 4000 applicants. For this role he got a National Board of Review award for Best Juvenile Performance.

After the "Empire of the sun" Christian too excessively learned what is being a Ďyoung celebrityí. The promotion of the ĎEmpire of the Suní made him hate objectives TV cameras once and for all. ĎI told my parents I wasn't interested in doing anything again because the attention ruined ití Ė he said once. And parents listened to his words and next two years Christian did not act.

From 1989 to 1991 Christian has appeared in three films based classical literature masterpieces: Shakespeare's ĎHenry Ví, Robert Louis Stevensonís ĎTreasure Islandí and John Le Carreís ĎA Murder of Qualityí.

The turning point of his actor's career became musical ĎNewsiesí. Specially for this film he trained for 10 weeks in dancing, singing and martial arts together with other young actors who acted in the movie.

In 1992 just after Newsiesí release Christian finally decided to become the actor and moved to Los Angeles where his father lived.

From 1992 to 2003 Christian Bale has played in 17 films of the most various genres, has got huge amount of fans and reputation of one of the most serious and talented actors of his generation. The 10th Anniversary issue of Entertainment Weekly proclaimed him the one of the Top 8 Most Powerful Cult Figures of the past decade. EW also called him one of the "Most Creative People in Entertainment" after his performance in ĎAmerican Psychoí(2000.) Premiere lauded him as one of the ĎHottest Leading Men Under 30í.

His official site exists since 1993 (now itís under construction), and in 1996 Christian Bale has taken the sixth place in the list of the most discussed actors at AOL.

January, 29, 2000 Christian got married to Sibi Blasic, independent producer of short films and ex-model. Yugoslavian-descended Sandra (itís her real name) was born and has grown in Chicago. They have met in the summer 1999 at a party. Wedding took place in Las Vegas. For some time Christian and Sandra lived in Edinburgh. In 2002 they bought a house in Los Angeles.

One of the last Christian Baleís movies, drama ĎLaurel Canyoní directed Lisa Cholodenko, was in theaters in March 7, 2003. In May 2003 he starts to work in the new picture - psychological suspense thriller ĎThe Machinistí. This movie is production of Spanish studio Filmax International.

Christian Bale is a excellent horse rider and avid book reader.

He is easily able to simulate accents, and he speaks with different accent almost in each movie.

He lives with two dogs (Mojo and Ramone) and three cats (Miriam, Molly, and Lilly).

Christian doesn't eat red meat. He is active member of many public organizations, including Ark Trust, Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Foundation, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the Redwings Sanctuary, and the Happy Child Mission, and a school for streetkids in Rio De Janeiro.

With the help of online Balehead's he has already adopted a gorilla, and in 2000 he presented an award at The Ark Trust's Annual Genesis Awards.

Christian has auditioned for the part of Jack Dawson in 'Titanic', but hasn't got it because James Cameron did not want both leading roles in his picture were played by Englishmen.

His favorite musicians are Manic Street Preachers, Tom Waits and R.E.M.
